Adventure is Worthwile

We did it! We got married at a beautiful venue with delicious food and many wonderful family members.

The day before the wedding I had spent with my family and had some much needed family time before we head over to Germany. I made it to their Bed and Breakfast in time for breakfast with the entire Bowen/Henderson/Hood/Fitts clan and then the five women went to get pampered and beautified before the wedding. After that, the clan reunited for dinner at a local restaurant located on Lake Eerie called Jake's on the Lake. Some of the dishes were very good. I had the Pecan-Crusted Salmon (delicious), however, my dad (Russ) and Uncle Ark had the Walleye. Unfortunately, they weren't all that impressed with it. Everything else was very good besides the fact that they don't serve sweet tea! That is blasphemous to my southern family.

Alex and I are leaving for Germany in a few hours. We have a flight at 12:12 pm out of the Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport that will land at Newark at about 2:00 pm. From there we must make our way through customs and then catch a flight at 5:40 pm to Berlin. We will arrive at 2:00 am (USA) and 8:00 am (DE). Once we arrive we must collect our baggage and head through customs once more. After we make it through we need to switch terminals and pick up our rental car. From there we head to our new home!
I'll update you from there...

P.S. the titles for the blogs will be quotes from a journal my maid of honor gave me to write in. Today's quote belonged to Amelia Earhart.

Pre-Wedding update

Hey Everyone,

This is just a small little update to keep my writing skills in shape.
As some of you may know, my last day at the Wildlife Center, after almost seven years, is this Friday.  I will most certainly miss that place. I practically grew up there.
Alex and I are frantically packing everything in the house. You never realize how much junk you own until you have to move. We have one more day to pack everything up and it's a little overwhelming how soon we'll be leaving Georgia... TWO full days.
We plan on leaving fairly early on Sunday morning so that we will arrive around dinner time (Supper for my southern family members). Alex and I are both very excited for the coming week and a half!
We cannot wait to see everyone one last time before our BIG move.
I promise to work on my writing and "blogging" skills as I go.

Hello All,
This is Katie writing, and Alex and I thought that a blog might be a good way of keeping tabs with family. We, of course, will still be skyping and calling everyone to keep in touch while overseas. I’ll use this first blog to get everyone up to date on what Alex and I have going on so far.

1)Alex and I will be renting a storage unit to store most of our things while we are away. My parents live about 25 minutes away, so we will leave a key to the unit with them.
2) I am STILL waiting for my dress to be done at the tailor.
3)My best friend and Maid of Honor will be taking all three of our reptiles. We will definitely owe her when we get back.
4)There is a link to the apartment we will be staying in for the duration of our stay at the bottom of this blog.
Well, I think this is a pretty good start on the whole blog thing. I’ll try to get better at this as we go.
Love,
Katie
